Subject – Creation of Centralised EDI Directory of Custom House Agent: Reg.

The Custom House Agents and all concerned are requested to take note of Public Notice No.20/2005 dated 22.09.2005, under which they were requested to supply their database as per Annexure-I, enclosed with the above said Public Notice, so that they can be registered on the basis of their Permanent Account Number (PAN), issued by the Income Tax Department and a centralized directory of Custom House Agents can be created. However till date no one has submitted the data as per Annexure –I referred above.

02. It is further informed that those Custom House Agents who have not registered under the new Custom House Agent directory scheme, till 23rd June, 2006, will not be able to use their current registrations and will have to use their newly issued PAN based registrations, with effect from 1st July, 2006. Hence all Custom House Agents are once again requested to submit their data as per Annexure – I enclosed with Public Notice No.20/2005, dated 22.09.2005, on or before 15.06.2006, without fail, so that they can be registered before 23rd June, 2006.

03. The Custom House Agent Associations are requested to give wide publicity to this Notice and work towards the timely completion of the above exercise, so that the work of any Custom House Agent may not be suffered for want of new PAN based registration.
