PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 31/2007

Sub:-Examination under Regulation 8 of the Custom House Agents Licensing Regulation, 2004 – m/r.

It is brought to the notice of all regular Custom House Agents Licence holders that the next examination of Custom House Agents under Regulation 8 of the Custom House Agents Licensing Regulation-2004 would be held in the third week of September,2007. The venue of the examination will be Custom House Kandla.

The persons who are employees, partners or directors of licensed CHAs and nominated by the concerned CHA are eligible to appear for the Regulation ‘8’ Examination as per CHALR – 2004. Such nominees should possess the following educational qualification :

(a) Graduates from a recognized university and possess a professional degree viz. C.A./M.B.A./LLB/Diploma in Customs Clearance work from any Institute or University recognized by the Government with a working knowledge of computers and customs procedures or :

(b) Graduate having at least three years experience in transaction of Customs House Agent work as a G-Card holder or

(c ) Retired Group ‘A’ officer from the Indian Customs and Central Excise Service (IC&CES) having a minimum of ten years experience in Group ‘A’.

Note : Qualifications/Degree mentioned above only is acceptable and equivalent

qualifications are not acceptable.

Further, CHA licence holders granted permission to operate under Regulations 15(2) or 16(2) of CHALR-2004 may also submit the applications of their nominated employees/directors/partners possessing the above cited qualification for the said written exam.

Information regarding Roll No., and seating arrangements would be displayed on the notice board of the Customs House Kandla in due course. The application should be furnished in the prescribed format given at Annexure – I to this notice for each candidate separately alongwith the photocopy of his Customs Identity Card duly attested by the Licensee himself and the Educational Qualification Certificate copy should be attested by the Gazetted Officer from Customs.

The application should reach this office latest by 31.08.2007. The application received thereafter will not be entertained under any circumstances.
